In spite of being in the 3rd place, John Deere became the top performer in terms of volume by almost doubling its sales from 772 in FY 2024-25 to 1,466 in FY 2025-26. Malkit and Preet Industries also performed well with 1,457 and 1,382 harvester sales and a market share of 7.61% and 7.22%, respectively.

Statewise - Retail Harvesters Sales from FY’26 (April 2025 to March 2026)
In terms of states, the demand for harvesters is still mostly in the northern and central belts, but new markets are starting to look promising. This is how the top five states did this financial year:

Rank 1 - Uttar Pradesh: Retail Harvester Sales in FY2025-26 (April 2025 to March 2026)
Uttar Pradesh has moved up the list to take the top spot this year with 3,869 units sold. The state's large agricultural area and the rising popularity of brands are the main reasons behind the growth in harvester retail sales.
Rank 2 - Punjab: Retail Harvesters Sales in FY2025-26 (April 2025 to March 2026)
Punjab, the traditional leader, is still a powerhouse with sales of 3,101 harvesters. With mechanisation levels, the sales remained strong this year.

Rank 5 - Haryana: Retail Harvesters Sales in FY2025-26 (April 2025 to March 2026)
Haryana sold 1,854 units. It is now ahead of other areas because of the rise in sugarcane and wheat production in certain clusters.
Harvester Retail Sales in FY 2026 and March 2026 Market Share Dynamics: Gains & Losses

Reasons Behind Exceptional Harvester Retail Sales in FY 2026 and March 2026
- Favourable Credit Conditions: Faster access to agriculture machinery finance or loan make upgrading to a harvester easier for farmers.
- Labour Shortage: Not availablity of manual labour during peak seasons forced the usage of combine harvesters.
- Government Subsidies: Continued state support for farm mechanisation schemes boosted buyer confidence.
- Ongoing Harvesting Season: The onset of the rabi harvesting season contributed to higher harvester sales.
- Improved Technological: Introduction of localised features by brands that handle diverse Indian soil and crop conditions efficiently and effectively.
- Expansion of CHCs: Custom Hiring Centres are making high-end harvester technology accessible to small-scale farmers. They provide affordable rental models, expanding farm mechanisation across India.
Tractor Gyan's Take on this Brilliant Performance
Tractor Gyan considers this 45.07% YOY growth as a remarkable achievement for the Indian harvester industry. The data points to the end of the "early adoption" phase and the start of the "mass mechanisation" phase.
While Vishal and Kartar continue to lead the volume charts, the aggressive growth of other brands indicates that the Indian farmer is now shifting towards advanced technology.
As we look ahead to Financial Year 2026-27, it looks even better, with brands always coming up with new ideas and technologies.
